Full Circle is an independent nonprofit recovery community organization led by representatives of local communities in recovery that provides peer-based recovery support services. Full Circle is not a treatment provider; we offer emotional, informational, and practical support for individuals and families affected by substance use.
Recovery is our first priority for our guests, our volunteers, our staff, and our community.
We are living proof that recovery is possible; we aim to put a positive face on recovery.
There are as many pathways of recovery as there are people in recovery, and all are cause for celebration.
Those in recovery are the experts in and owners of their own recovery journeys.
Everyone deserves a safe place where they are valued and their voice matters.
Our trained staff and volunteer Recovery Coaches provide strengths-based support to people seeking or already in recovery from an addiction.
Join us for All Recovery Meetings and other peer support groups and meetings offered at each location.
Service is a recovery pathway for many people. If you'd like to support others in recovery and help our centers thrive, we would love to have you as a volunteer!
Have fun and connect with others in a safe, supportive, recovery-friendly environment!
Everyone's path looks different, and we're here to help you find services and resources that will support your recovery.
Participate in our recovery-focused educational opportunities for personal growth and community awareness.
Cindy has worked in nonprofit organizations and higher education for more than 20 years, serving in various capacities, including program management, fundraising, research and evaluation, marketing and communications, and adjunct teaching. She is active in the recovery community in central Iowa, and she is passionate about assisting those who are new to sobriety and connecting them to local recovery resources. Her role as executive director of Full Circle Recovery Community Center involves strategic planning, implementing evidence-based practices, and providing oversight to the organization’s locations in Council Bluffs and Des Moines.
“As a woman in recovery, as well as a friend, ally, and family member of loved ones in recovery, I am excited that Full Circle RCC was established to offer multiple pathways of recovery. Recovery is not a one-size-fits-all journey. This organization exists to empower people to embrace their full potential through a variety of peer-based services, with multiple opportunities for growth, leadership, and self-directed recovery. My hope is that we can end the stigma surrounding substance use disorders and that recovery is embraced by communities across the state and beyond.”

In early 2022, Anawim Housing and The Beacon, two nonprofits based in Des Moines,
collaborated to establish Full Circle Recovery Community Centers with grant funding from the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
The Beacon and Anawim Housing serve populations that intersect. The Beacon serves women with histories of incarceration, trauma, domestic violence and substance use, with a focus on wellness, restoration, housing and employment. Anawim Housing serves those who have experienced homelessness and have histories of complex trauma and resulting substance use. Together they envisioned a recovery community center that would use a trauma-informed, equity-centered framework to deliver evidence-based programming to people affected by substance use.
Thanks to tremendous support from Anawim Housing, The Beacon, The Public Science Collaborative, and the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, Full Circle Recovery was established as an independent non-profit recovery community organization led and governed by people with direct lived experience with substance use challenges and recovery.
